I suggest Monk for an all-around good ranger.

alrighty. i know definately not warrior, i don't want spiritualist necromancer or elementalist or memser. so it's monk or assassin. i dunno if assassin would go well with a ranger. what d'ya think?

Just remember Rangers are very self sufficient! Very rarely do i carry any less than 7 Ranger skills, and the 8th is just a hard res like rebirth or ressurect. |

Personally I'dc go with R/Mo - just for the hard rez. When I played a ranger in Prophecies, Faction's and Nightfall I hardly ever used any skills apart from Ranger skills. Of course there are builds that revolve around using skills from other profession's..
I'd suggest taking some time to read the Ranger forums and see what they have to say about build's and such - I'd look over 3-4 pages of threads and read those that look interesting to you. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/f...play.php?f=209

Same here, I just use monk for the hard res. I've saved a few parties from wipes in PvE because I brought Rebirth along and knew when to escape from the fight. That is a very valuable skill to have for a ranger in PvE is knowing when the fight is looking bad and getting out. Yea, you could do it with just about any profession but Rangers have some of the best defensive/movement stances. For instance:
[skill]Lightning Reflexes[/skill], [skill]Whirling Defense[/skill], [skill]Escape[/skill], [skill]Zojun's Haste[/skill](factions version of dodge),[skill]Storm Chaser[/skill] When used with [skill]Rebirth[/skill], you can save about anyone. I agree withn previous posts, Monk is a really good secondary to use until you have proceeded far enough in the game to be able to change secondary.
Try putting a few points (4 or 5) into smiting and use this on yourself [skill]judge's insight[/skill] while tackling undead in Kryta. Double damage +20% armour penetration. Awesome when coupled with Barrage. Shame about 2 sec cast time though. Sorry, just seen that you are on Factions. Note to self: read posts before replying. |
